21st Century Learners

It's important to use technology when teaching. An astounding 63% of teachers don't have students use technology to create. This is a monumental problem in my opinion. The reason this is a problem is because it means we are not taking advantage of the resources that are available.

The video stated by the year 2016 the largest English speaking country will be China. I was so surprised when I saw that I had to rewind the video. It also said that only half of Americans graduate high school. As a future teacher it is important to do whatever is necessary to make my students successful. One way I can do this is by differentiating instruction. Students learn in different ways and it's important to figure out what each student responds to. Students must learn to think, create, analyze, evaluate, and apply. When the students hold up a white board that says "Engage me," it is an extremely powerful message. I related this back to one of the elements of teaching Social Studies which is to challenge. If the students are not challenged they will become bored. Technology has become such an important part of the world we live in so it is essential that we embrace this idea in the classroom
